| 206673 | 2004-01-11 07:28:00 | The concept of P2P is legal - people downloading files off other people in their own region can generally ensure faster downloads, and having it segmented between several different users from the same region does seem to make it slightly faster at that. However, the use of P2P programs for the sharing of files covered by copyrights in which the sharer has no license to share and distribute is illegal. As for the how do you get caught question, well, you get caught by sharing, by downloading, etc. The RIAA supposedly has users logged into P2P networks sharing dud copies of popular songs - what this enables them to do is get the IP of whoever downloads the file and trace it up. The same works in reverse by uploading files from you of popular copyright content - and that's just the 2 that first come to my head, there are plenty more ways as well. Its that easy |

This bloated piece of software is packed with SpyWare, Adware, Foistware, Malware all the sort of crap that this forum is littered with threads to help people remove. The junk bundled with Kazaa is actually capable of breaking your TCP/IP protocol to the point where registry editing is required to get internet access restored - trust me I do this on an almost daily basis. |

Other option as mentioned is IP tracking and tracing, however they have to prove you downloaded it, then track your IP back through the ISP to find out who was using that IP at a particular time etc etc.... |
