207070 2004-01-13 04:21:00 I just have a few questions about some files.

I use DC++ (well PDC++ which is a hacked version) and if I'm downloading a movie, i Ctrl+C it and copy it to another hard drive and watch what it has downloade so far. After I watch it, i want to delete it but windows XP says the file is in use and that I cant delete it (and no, the file I want to delete is not the file that is downloading, it is a copy of the file downloading). I have about 7 of these files, about 400mb's each and it is every inoying. I have tired Ctrl-X them but that doesn't work. Any ideas? Oh, I know for sure that the files are NOT in use at all, so I don't know why this is happening.

Also, does any one know if it is possible to bind .exe's into other files? Like a picture or text file? So that when the say .... photo.bmp is opened, the .exe is also run?

Thanks

James

That would be dangerous, and the file would almost certainly be picked up by virus scanners. You can hide a .exe file INSIDE a .bmp file, but you can't make it run when you open the .bmp file.

207074 2004-01-13 04:54:00 As a frequent poster here James you should know by now that we don't give advice on hacked software problems or illegal downloads. Perhaps you might want to refresh your memory on this by rereading the rules at the head of these posts.

Anyway, on your particular problem, what OS are you using?

Sometimes it is easier to delete difficult files from DOS, and I have also had success with renaming files as some have odd characters inserted that prevent deletion. If an ongoing problem, dedicate a partition to such files and reformat it after each use to get rid of the files.

Cheers
