This part I want to clarify.
Does this mean that you open another IE browser from the start menu or IE icon to view PF1 and by doing this it closes the original. I am guessing this is the case. It is definitely not what happens with mine using IE6. I would maybe just try going to internet options and 'restore defaults'.
However if I ever want to load a fresh IE bowser I (with the current browser active) press ctrl+N which loads a copy of the one you are viewing but it seems to load a lot quicker than clicking on IE icon. Then just surf (during your tea break of course) with the new browser.

207117 2004-01-13 10:46:00 I have just experimented because I frequently have more than one window open with IE6. In doing so I opened windows on sixteen sites, with one duplication ( I could have gone on !). I could tab between them and work as normal.

The only things I can think of are:

(1) I use Windows ME
(2) I reached the sites using my favourites contained down the right hand side of my marvellous home page which is NZCity (incidentally, the only duplication) which can be reached http://home.nzcity.co.nz/

I don't know that I have any particular settings which have helped achieve this.

207118 2004-01-13 11:10:00 How are you spawning the new site? From a bookmark, desktop shortcut, etc.

I think what you're after will be the "reuse windows" fix. It is really must have anyway.

Further clarification:

OSs are Win 2K or W98 original, depending on box in use.

IE 6.0.2800 SP1

Only one copy of IE open at the time

No fancy/special keystrokes employed now or in the past

Opening a second site closes the first and substitutes its own page. To go back to the original I have to close the present page (or just ignore it) and reopen the first via shortcut or URL.

The times it annoys me most are those when I am doing a search on Google and want to check some data from another known site from my favourites etc while staying logged onto my current Google search result. Sometimes I can go back via the back button in IE but this is not always successful.

To be honest, I have never considered opening multiple browsers as Old Faithful (P166/198MB W98) doesn't really have the muscle to handle the load. I am moving over to another slightly faster machine soon (PIII 550/512MB W2k) but I need the DOS program compatibility of W98 on a daily basis so it looks like I'll have to take a leap into the GHz range soon for W2k and transfer W98 to the PIII.

Cheers
