and am now trying to learn how to fly it?????

and if all is lost i can uninstall it sometime in the future right?

the address bar gets me, im too use to google anything and it shows up the answers i guess.

seems to have a few features which i could use, and lots to confuse me,

all input greatly appreciated.

207240 2004-01-14 03:00:00 Hi beetle,

Mozilla is a good web browser, there are many ways to configure it for your liking in the menu bar | edit | preference section.

The only thing you should know about Mozilla, and this goes out to all web developers is that viewing some pages may not show up correct, reason being, the web developer didn't consider this browser and designed it for the more popular IE. It's not the developers fault though, it's all been complicated by the browser web standards which a lot have improvised to make it seem "better", which meant other browsers may or may not have support for their fancier counterpart addition.

So some pages may show up incorrectly, but hopefully they still can do what you need to get out from the site is the key thing.

You can change the address bar so that if whatever you write, like pressf1 in the address bar, you can select the search for on Google option. I am not sure whether you can just type ?pressf1 and it'll do the same thing.

Lots of features for confusement, but that is what people requested and ideas the developer came up with for improving their browser, if you use the browser long enough you develop your own knack for using it.

There are so many browsers you could explore, and so many different features hidden within all of them.

207241 2004-01-14 03:29:00 ok i have been sitting here for ages, just looking, soaking it up i guess youd say.

and i like it very much, just need to understand some of its icons a bit better, and i also like the tab browser setting. just got to remember its at the top....not the bottom like IE.

the only thing i have a problem with is whether to use the email prog or not, as all work stuff is done in OE and it would be a pain to change it all around.

i like also that my current favs in IE have crossed over and are now in Mozilla.... saves a lot of searching.

ill keep plodding along but would still like to hear from others about Mozilla.

thanxs

207242 2004-01-14 04:27:00 Hey beetle,

Go here and get the latest one you won't be disappointed. Don't instal the robot toolbar unless you want to. This is a great browser addon to IE6 and includes tabbed browsing and heaps of very cool features. Once you try it you will never use any other browser.
I promise you.

207243 2004-01-14 05:19:00 Hi Beetle,
What build have you got? I recently changed to Mozilla FireBird .07. and was just as confused as you when trying to set it up.Just be patient and ask plenty of questions, that`s what helped me out anyway. If you go to..Tools>Options....and follow your nose ,it won`t take you long to work things out, there`s tons of help info about Mozilla to browse through that should keep you busy for sometime. Also I have my Google bar on board.
Members here at F1 were my biggest problem solvers when first starting out on F/B. You are definitely going to enjoy Mozilla.
Have fun...

207244 2004-01-14 05:41:00 You may find these guides helpful to explain what your new browser is capable of and what the functions mean:

Mozilla 1.4 FAQ (www.mozilla.org) - not sure what version you have, but this should be helpful anyway.

Unofficial Mozilla help and how-to site (http://mozilla.gunnars.net/).

Bascially it is all about trying out different settings and finding what suits you. :)

207246 2004-01-14 10:10:00 Mozilla is my preference browser. Added to TAB browsing, there are lots of other goodies such as page refreshing automatically. It's good to sit and watch the Press F1 page being refreshed as others use it. Also Google news being refreshed. Real good watching news come up - as it is reported. Almost as good as radio.
Pop-up inhibitors and ad blocking are among many other good features found at http://extensionroom.mozdev.org/
where :Advanced Preferences can be found. Just Imagine being able to tweak your browser to the nth degree. Nice one!
You can also make others think that you are using a different browser than the one you are really using - all there in extensions.
The mail option rivals "Mail Washer" for it's ability to weed oout spam, so much so that I'm thinking of uninstalling "Mail Washer" after a futher trial period. There are 165 extensions to the latest version of Mozilla - and I've only tried a few of them.
Happy Surfing with Mozilla.

207248 2004-01-14 10:19:00 More on Mozilla: When using other browsers and posting to F1, I had been logged off for some reason and was never, ever able to recover my draft post.
Now I have "Recall" installed into THIS browser. Just as well - because - you guessed it - it happened again just as I was attempting my last post on this subject.
I had no need to fear lost text in the world of "forms" anymore. Because I had "recall", all I needed to do was hit the back button until it was there again, unadulterated. So I could post it. Hooray. First time I have ever recovered text from a lost form in a browser.
