1353837 2013-09-18 21:56:00 For some reason I keep getting the "username or password incorrect" error message when trying to set up an Orcon email account on my iPod. Is this because Orcon is not my ISP? Have followed the instructions given here (www.orcon.net.nz) and double/triple checked all settings, including username and password to no effect. FoxyMX (5)
1353838 2013-09-19 00:08:00 This suggests to me that it has to be an Orcon account:

• Password: your Orcon email account password

1353839 2013-09-19 05:06:00 Hmm... not sure about that Greg. I have no trouble accessing my Orcon account in Eudora with POP so *should* be able to with IMAP as well, I would have thought. Gmail works fine on the iPod so why not Orcon? :illogical FoxyMX (5)
1353840 2013-09-19 05:18:00 I didn't know you could have an Orcon email account without being a customer. But I can't help either way sorry. Greg (193)
1353841 2013-09-19 05:20:00 Years ago they used to allow people to have free life-time email accounts with them whether customers or not but have discontinued new registrations now. Thanks anyway. FoxyMX (5)
1353842 2013-09-19 07:38:00 POP and IMAP are two different things.
Check that they offer IMAP (not many ISP's do as standard).
Or just use POP on your mobile as well (set "leave on server" for 14 days or so).

1353843 2013-09-19 07:57:00 Use POP if possible.
use mail.orcon.net.nz for your incoming mail
use mail.your ISP.?.nz for outgoing mail.

1353844 2013-09-19 08:22:00 Are you at home with Orcon via your router?

If you are outside with using 3G internet, I just use the gmail servers for smtp and i use my ISP for pop servers. If you are not at that particular moment logged into Orcon they won't let you smtp.

Have tried POP and IMAP with same results for both. Still keeps telling me my username or password is incorrect. :(
