1353768	2013-09-18 11:05:00	Hi, I am travelling shortly and want to take some of my boxset tv series on my tablet. This requires ripping the individual episodes off the dvds. I have done this before using Handbrake but its time consuming and requires manual application. Can anyone suggest a good onestep software that will do this all for me? Im happy to pay for it if its reliable, simple, and will ripp all episodes from a dvd into good quality individual programes in say, .avi, mp4, mkv etc. Any suggestions please as to a good reliablecprogramme. 1353771	2013-09-19 00:30:00	The venerable DVD Shrink can do the ripping and handbrake or similar to covert to another format, but as the OP mentions this is a manual and time consuming method. Handbrake can rip DVD's in linux but not windows in my experience, hence DVD shrink. DVD Fab is pretty good, and although it's not cheap you can just buy the individual module for DVD ripping if you want. And to be my usual annoying self I'll point out ripping DVD's is not legal in NZ, no matter if you own them or not. It took forever for them to let us legally convert our own music, as far as I know they never included Video in the format shifting Laws. I could be wrong.	dugimodo (138)
1353772	2013-09-19 00:54:00	Handbrake can rip DVD's in linux but not windows in my experience, hence DVD shrink. Thats incorrect, handbrake can rip a DVD within Windows. :) All you do is from the source button/ Option select the DVD. ( this should be obvious, but you have to have the DVD in the drive other wise it wont show the Drive)	wainuitech (129)

Are you certain it works even with protected DVD's? It's a feature they had way back and then abandoned due to licensing issues. Maybe it's back and I never noticed. I think maybe it always worked for unprotected disks. edit from handbrakes website Supported Input Sources: Handbrake can process most common multimedia files and any DVD or BluRay sources that do not contain any kind of copy protection So I guess if you use an on the fly copy protection remover it could work but otherwise no.	dugimodo (138)

So the answer given was correct , it will rip DVD's. ;) Yeah ok, I guess to me when talking about ripping DVD's the need to work on protected DVD's is implied so I didn't think to specify. In any case I believe linux still has this functionality if you have the relative library or dependency or something installed. I guess that's not much different to using something like anyDVD in conjunction with the windows version. what I MEANT was handbrake under windows by default cannot rip protected DVD's unless you use other software to deal with the protection. On a related note if you use something like anyDVD or DVDgenie to strip the protection then NERO recode is another good program to try, basically they bought DVD shrink, removed it's ability to rip protected DVD's, and continued development from there. The Upshot is recode is faster and has better quality and/ or compression than DVD shrink and is very similar to use but can't deal with protected DVDs	dugimodo (138)
