1331826 2013-03-07 19:52:00 It should have happened long ago but it won't all the time the rich are in control and don't expect the Key clowns to fix it either as it's all their mates that are getting the money gary67 (56)
1331827 2013-03-07 21:13:00 We got a Letter in the post from Genesis the other day advising of a power increase - around the same time as the Mighty River shares interest was announced - Hmmmmmmmmm wainuitech (129)
1331828 2013-03-07 21:16:00 It's a very hard scenario to fix.

Imagine yourself in the position of a hugely overpaid executive (with expenses commensurate with the salary).

You originally took on the role with the salary expectation set, because you previous role was similar and was paid at a similar level - in fact each of your roles over the years has paid more than the last. This is normal for everyone - with experience and increasing responsibility comes rewards.

Can you honestly say, that after 20-30 years of ever increasing salaries, that you would say, of your own initiative, "Hell, I'm paid way too much. I'll talk to HR and get them to cut my salary by two thirds."?

If you have outgoings at the level that your salary funds (family responsibilities, mortgages, lifestyle) it's very hard to even imagine trying to live on less.

Could you value your worth at 30% of what it is now?

I couldn't. I have very specific experience and I am good at what I do - and since I'm a contractor, I'm only as good as my last project.

Therefore I expect to be paid commensurate with my specific experience.

I have come to the conclusion after many years of reading your posts that you don't like John key....;)

I am a bit down on him after some of the things that have gone on over the last few years, but one has to consider the alternatives, like a Labour /Greens party coalition :groan: Brother in law is a retired banker and says the financial world is aghast at the thought of the greens leader (give me back my flag!!!) suggesting that the way out of our problems is to print more money. :horrified

What are your thoughts on this Gary?

Ken ;)

1331830 2013-03-07 21:34:00 John Key is best PM this country has ever had and may ever have. He is our Maggie Thatcher and Winston Churchill combined the Englanders two greatest PMs.
Disregarding what ever disgruntled Englanders residing here say they are not born here so their opinion is worthless. History books are going to be kind about PM John Key.
