1331528 2013-03-06 04:07:00 Are they any decent alternatives to Trademe that don't have criminally high fees? This is not a "I hate trademe" thread - but they have put their prices up SO much that I would have to increase the price of what I'm selling to account for the fees - then people wont buy it because it is priced too high!

Sella.co.nz seems to have basically shut down. Trade-exchange site says it has joined sella.co.nz then takes you to sella's 'shut down' page. Both link you to the Herald which costs a bomb - but who reads that???

I know of Gumtree.co.nz and of course ebay but is that it?

I tried advertising on ebay and it came up with US dollars on my listing? Could not work out how to change it so made sure to mention it in the description.

Should mention I am selling a vehicle. Need maximum audience for a quick sale without paying hundreds of dollars in listing/success fees.

1331529 2013-03-06 06:14:00 I use ebid.net (based in the UK but they have a New Zealand site.

But for cars what about that car site I saw advertised on tv the other day - someone will know the name of it.

Yes both TM and ebay have trebled their fees since they started and this in a time of lowering technology costs and cheaper bandwitdh.

They are both very greedy and make it marginal for people to sell stuff, so they sell less!

1331530 2013-03-06 07:16:00 TM has started increasing fees since aussies took over them. About alternatives I only knew sella, ebay and amazon. Some stuff can be found at Fishpond, but they're not an auction place. Sanco (683)

Who knows what's happening there though. Hope they bring back the feature that let you change the price of other users auctions.

1331534 2013-03-06 08:26:00 Usually the fees you are forced to pay are made up for in the extra money people pay because of the far larger customer base. jonovw (16835)

But TM and ebay know they have the monopoly so they keep increasing fees and fining new fees.

1331536 2013-03-06 20:24:00 Trademe are the only worthwhile NZ site for selling. 1101 (13337)
