1331433 2013-03-05 20:13:00 HI Guys

My ISP just offered me an upgrade on my broadband data cap if I go for their bundle with landline etc.

At the moment I have my landline with Telecom and my ISP is Actrix.

I am very tempted, as I have never liked Telecom.

It will cost me the same as what I am paying now, but my data cap gets doubled.

Are there any disadvantages to leaving Telecom ?

I am not asking what your plans are etc.

Just the merits of ditching Telecom and going for the bundle

1331435 2013-03-05 20:31:00 When I joined TC nearly 3 years ago (this December), that was the end of Telecom (for landline).

Both the phone and the net are through TC now. I never had the internet thru Telecom tho. Before this, I was with Xnet. TC are fine with landline. Its probably cheaper for tollcalls than Telecom. The flatmate usually makes them and she could yak for 2 hrs, and its only $3

1331436 2013-03-05 20:39:00 I have everything with Telecom - can't fault them on the service delivered or customer service (however the layout of the bill leaves a lot to be desired).

There's a lot to be said for bundling all your comms with one provider (if something in the bundle goes wrong you have more leverage if there are disagreements) - but I would shop around. Now's a good opportunity...

1331437 2013-03-05 20:47:00 Haven't had any disagreements yet. Only thing TC did wrong on the bill a few mths ago was, they tried to charge me $199 for early termination.

When in fact, they had changed my plan (from the old one to the new one - the $82 a mth plan) because the previous plan would have gone past its end date. So, TC changed my plan (a week) before

But, I proved them wrong, because they had no record of me ringing them and saying that

1331438 2013-03-05 21:44:00 TC, is that Telecom or Telstra Clear? the_bogan (9949)
1331439 2013-03-05 22:07:00 I have a Telecom landline and a 2Talk SIP line. Tried Orcon's LLU landline about 5 years ago. Nearly ended up in divorce it was so bad. Will stick with the Telecom one in the meantime.. paulw (1826)
1331440 2013-03-05 22:08:00 Telstraclear, they called me to ask me if I wanted to go on the $82 plan a week before the previous plan / contract was going to end.

Then they tried to get me to pay $20 or something a mth (a plan) for the cell I got when I joined them. I said nah dont want it. So they killed the cellphone. I'll just change the sim in it lol to someone else. Since its not locked to TC

1331441 2013-03-05 22:15:00 We have a good deal with Telstra Clear and the tolls, we pay a set fee of $20 / per month to any land line within NZ, that gives us 100 hours. Our toll bills used to be a lot more than that, but 100 hours is a long time to yak on the phone. wainuitech (129)
1331442 2013-03-05 22:16:00 Have had a 2talk VoIP line for 3 years as sole landline. Couldn't be happier!! Chilling_Silence (9)
