And also network worms... I hope you both have good antivirus programs and know how to use them.

1354512 2013-09-29 22:27:00 Wireless hands down.

What you need to do...

1 - obtain permission from your ISP to do this.
2 - do you have line of sight from point a to point b? if so, you want a pair of Ubiquiti LocoM5 radios from here (www.gowifi.co.nz). While you're there, also grab two Nano mount (www.gowifi.co.nz)s and enough shielded Ethernet cable (www.gowifi.co.nz). if you don't have perfect line of sight, go with LocoM2 radios instead.
3 - configure the devices as per these (community.ubnt.com)instructions
4 - enjoy. With those radios on a 30MHz channel width you should just about be able to max out a 100mb/sec Ethernet link.

1354513 2013-09-29 23:52:00 Long range WiFi is the go :)[/QUOTE]

Not come across this before, are you talking about many kilometres or
perhaps just one. Where does the wifi signal come from, would
one of the local (Whangarei) ISP's provide it ?

Is specialised equipment needed, at my end ?

You would provide it by buying the appropriate equipment.

Yes

Wratterus has already given an example

1354515 2013-09-30 01:34:00 Perhaps see if CyaBro (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz)does this type of thing...

No offense meant here, but from the questions you're asking, it seems you'd be in a little over your head trying to setup something like this yourself, although we're obviously more than happy to help out... :)

1354516 2013-09-30 02:23:00 Yeah find someone to give you a hand, I'd go Ubiquiti nano station loco or similar.

I would say it will be against your ISP's T&C's to share, but not illegal as such.
