| 1354485 | 2013-09-29 06:26:00 | Yea its Ubuntu based and uses a whole load of in house tools - Pantheon DE, Gala window manager, etc. In the couple of weeks I tried it for I noticed: 1 - very fast and stable 2 - surprisingly easy to customise things like animations etc for a distro that places the emphasis on 'just working' 3 - not all programs integrate with the system tray so well, a few require hacks to get them working. |

| 1354486 | 2013-09-29 06:27:00 | Is it a real new O/S or a based on variant? Base system is Ubuntu, but the devs have done more than most Ubuntu spinoffs - they've built a lot of in house programs, and have written not just a DE but a Window Manager as well. |

| 1354489 | 2013-09-29 08:21:00 | To get apps into the system tray permanently, run them by starting from the application list then they appear in the tray where they can be pinned by right click select. As for useability, because it comes with very little except essentials, you have to install whatever you require. I like it better than Ubuntu or Mint or Peppermint so far. Thank goodness it doesn't have all the crappy eye-candy like Ubuntu (Vista, Win7 - yuk, I only use Windows Classic as in Win2K). Mint is tolerable. |
