1332364 2013-03-12 21:31:00 Just ban cars on the roads between the hours of 3am to 10pm I'm sure that will fix the problem

Yesterday morning, it took me 20 minutes from Ellerslie to get onto the Southern Motorway northbound at 07:35. A distance of just 2 kms - the culprit being a roundabout that should have been a flyover, and with the on-ramp traffic signals further hindering progress.

Once on the Motorway, 6 minutes to clear the Newmarket viaduct, finally arriving at Wellsford (Northland) at 09:05 - a distance of 103 kms. (Would have been earlier except for a Police serious crash vehicle pacing the traffic all the way to Warkworth)

1332365 2013-03-12 21:37:00 Best idea ever :D :clap

But then I won't be able to get to Waiuku...

Isn't there a Glenbrook line? You could always hitchhike - or walk - from there. :devil

BTW what was the outcome with your GF's shop and the web page? :)

1332369 2013-03-13 00:29:00 Yes, the problem was recognised 60 odd years ago and still we are waiting for someone to do something about it.

Travel and seeking photo opportunities seems to be all the Politicians are good for.

Every time a similar proposal has been put forward, a National government canned it.

So why didn't anyone push it when Comrade Clark was in power for all those years? She and Comrade Cullen LOVED spending our money - the CRL should have been a sitter to be funded by Labour!!

Silly to blame it on a government - they all have spending priorities (all a bit different) and no single party will ever be able to satisfy everyone's individual ideas on what should be funded over and above everything else.

Public transport use wasn't really high enough to justify it then. Since then, the council has invested massively in it.

"Invested" is only an antonym for what they've done ;)
