1331214 2013-03-05 06:55:00 That puzzled me too. Americans were specifically excluded in two places...

Although I pre-registered, I'm totally against the sale. I expect to get some free money from buying $2k's worth.

The process is just another transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich

So you are Rich!!!!!!!!!!

1331215 2013-03-05 07:03:00 Found this in the small print about Americans:

Mighty River Power's shares have not been and will not be registered under the United States Securities Act of 1933, as amended (the "United States Securities Act") or the securities laws of any state of the United States and may not be offered or sold in the United States unless the shares are registered under the United States Securities Act, or an exemption from the registration requirements of the United States Securities Act and applicable United States state securities laws is available.

Most of us are against the sale, but we might just on sell to our Godson in Florida and make a few bob on the deal, lol.

1331218 2013-03-05 19:33:00 Yes most are against, so if no one bought any it would prove you are really against it, then Key and his clowns might actually take notice although I doubt it as they are like Ostriches and have their heads buried so far in the sand they can't hear us gary67 (56)
1331219 2013-03-05 19:36:00 Well i will buy some to help keep them in kiwi hands, as much as i can afford anyway. It will diversify my portfolio too. Gobe1 (6290)
1331220 2013-03-05 19:38:00 Most against is a media lefty myth. All the actual polls suggest most are neutral or for the sale of shares in MRP. CliveM (6007)

No, but you can't really lose with $2k. If the share price goes down, wait until the incentive period is up (2 years?), sell at a loss, then offset the loss with the incentive. I don't about brokerage.

(I think that's how it works - I've never owned shares)

The transfer to the rich happens 5 or 10 years down the track, when power prices have increased (just as they did when Contact was sold). At that time you will notice that the rich have become richer and the poor and middle class have become poorer. You won't know why it's happened and you will probably blame the lefties. But it's just the logic of the rich using their money to make the system give them more money

1331223 2013-03-05 23:02:00 BBcmicro, getting out of shares at the right time has something to do with the letter "W". Someone on here will be able to explain it, something about the troughs and peaks being the right time to quit shares.

Years since we were in the share market.
