1354422	2013-09-26 11:19:00	Kia ora all I've got a bit of a problem here. A mate of mine has a Toshiba Satellite L850 laptop, which he had in his bag with a can of Lift Plus and... suffice to say the can of Lift Plus decided it no longer wanted to hold its contents and leaked everywhere, including into the laptop. The bag absorbed most of the drink, but we suspect that liquid has entered through the CPU airvent near the hinges. He did the right thing and took the battery out straight away, however we're trying to take the bottom cover off to access where the drink has most likely affected to clean it off. We've been trying to do this for about three hours, and I've failed in finding any information on how to successfully do this. Does anyone know how to take the bottom cover off, or know of any websites with disassembly diagrams or anything? If you can help, we'd greatly appreciate it :)	mookster1 (15854)
1354423	2013-09-26 11:22:00	Is there a bottom cover? Some of the laptops you take the keyboard off and the bottom cover is just stuck to the entire chassis. You take the keyb off and then the motherboard or sometimes the palm rest comes off with the bottom cover still stuck to the chassis. :confused: Edit this is just the keyb but may help ... www.youtube.com	Nomad (952)
1354424	2013-09-26 11:34:00	Hi Nomad There does appears to be a bottom cover - it's secured with about a dozen screws, which we've removed, and we've managed to lift a couple of corners and undo most of the clips. However it still appears to be stuck down somehow by the optical drive... we tried removing the keyboard but we didn't have very much success with that either >.< EDIT: Thanks for the link! 1354427	2013-09-26 21:08:00	Yup, we've taken the optical drive out, as well as all of the screws that we can find that appear to attach the bottom on. You'll have to do a lot more than just the bottom screws. The majority of laptops the base wont come off on its own, you have to do a complete disassemble, including removing the motherboard, ALL covers etc. look at it as the base is ----- well the base of where everything else is attached. ;) You have to remove the Keyboard, top cover, all plugs and often remove components. Its not uncommon to have screws hidden under a Hard Drive, Wireless connection etc. Some even have screws hidden under a sticker that has to be removed.Under / through the Motherboard. Heres a basic strip down video of a Toshiba --- its what you will have to do to get the base off.toshiba-satellite-disassembly (tech2.in.com) Different models will disassemble indifferent manners, some will have screws holding thing in place others will clip into place and you have to unclip them. THIS HERE (www.irisvista.com)is a different model, the L850 seems to be an odd one, but it will be along the same lines.	wainuitech (129)

1354429	2013-09-27 03:17:00	I had to get into my Toshiba when wine was spilt in it. I found a youtube clip showing how to completely take one apart. You may need to search a little to find it. As has been mentioned, access is through the top.	user (1404)
1354430	2013-09-29 02:25:00	Awesome! Thanks for your replies, guys, yeah, we managed to get the keyboard off, and surprise surprise there were yet more screws to undo before the back would come off. We managed to have a look inside and while it appears that the motherboard was untouched, some of the drink may have tracked up the cables into the screen, consequently causing it to bite the dust. We were able to plug an external screen in to get all the data off it, which was a bonus! Once again, thanks heaps for your assistance, we really appreciate it :)	mookster1 (15854)
