2013-09-23 04:42:00 | I'm getting this when viewing a webpage on the web: "Dont tell them". On my screen the apostrophe in the word "don't" is a tiny black triangle. I'm using Firefox latest. I've been all over looking for a solution that will render the symbol as text - I'm caught in the language options in Firefox, and not sure what they should be. Any help much appreciated. | braindead (1685) | |
2013-09-23 04:58:00 | Seems like an encoding issue to me - looks like it was originally UTF-8 but is being rendered as ASCII. Unfortunately I don't think that's something you can fix, it's up to the web developer to fix that. | pcuser42 (130) | |

2013-09-23 05:25:00 | EDIT: Note to self, read things properly...Your meta tag with the encoding should have a value of utf-8 - I'll go into more detail when I get home :) | pcuser42 (130) | |

2013-09-23 06:36:00 | Thanks. I think I missed out some info that may help: I only see the text anomalies in the text in the left side bar, wherever there's an apostrophe or something. When you refresh the page, different sidebar content comes up. Some pages have the anomaly, some don't, just to make it tricky. | braindead (1685) | |
2013-09-23 06:46:00 | Aah I've got it now :p 5207 Copying the character into Notepad++ then encoding as ANSI gave - googling this tells me the original character was the Unicode Replacement Character - going into that JavaScript file and replacing them with an apostrophe should do the trick. :)
