207483 2004-01-14 23:24:00 Hey,

Im running XP Pro on my laptop.... I have a wired connection downstairs between my pcs, one of which has a USB WLAN adapter attached. I sometimes plug my laptop into the hardwired network... but more often i run it over the wireless lan. As such i have set the laptop up to have two separate network connections... I simply disable one in Network places when i want to use the other.

Is there a way in which i can make an icon which will do this for me just to save time and help out those members of my family which aren't so computer literate.

Thanks... Ash

207484 2004-01-15 01:06:00 Hi Ashley Matthews,

Download a program from MS called DevCon

. microsoft . com/default . aspx?scid=http://support . microsoft . com:80/support/kb/articles/q311/2/72 . asp&NoWebContent=1" target="_blank">support . microsoft . com

This is like Device Manager but it's command line based . I'm sure you could work out how to use it to execute Enable/Disabled commands that are required .

207487 2004-01-15 01:10:00 doesnt xp reconise which is the active network link, I know when my laptop is not on my network the network icon has a red x through it. I thought xp may detect which network link was active, however this maybe one of the differences between pro and home versions beama (111)
