207555 2004-01-15 04:36:00 I have been having trouble with computer randomly restarting while doing things such as watching dvd's, organizing files or photos. The computer jsut restarts without giving any clue as to what is wrong.

I thought it could be a bios problem but i have updated that and it is still happening.

any help would be great

207556 2004-01-15 04:45:00 Just in case you are running XP:

Control Panel - System - Advanced - Startup and Recovery - Settings - Untick the "automatically restart" option.

The PC will fail to a Blue Screen next time, and hopefully there will be an error message that will help track down the problem.

But, if you are not running XP then this response is a waste of time, so post back and let us know the OS?

207557 2004-01-15 04:49:00 Hi
Am using XP and will give ur suggestion a go but i have tried WIN ME and 98SE with the same problem so i am not sure if it will help. I think it may be the motherboard which is reseting it. how does that sound?

207558 2004-01-15 05:17:00 I got the rror again and as you said it didnt restart. It seems to be pointing to a problem with the graphics which are integrated. Do you think a pci or agp card would fix the problem? M@TT (149)
207559 2004-01-15 05:27:00 And the error message was?

Unless we know the error, its too hard to guess.

207560 2004-01-15 05:35:00 sorry, Im not being very clear .
It said there were problems with Framebuf . dll and that some of my hardware or its drivers were in some type of Cycle that if the OS wasnt shutdown it would ruin my pc . That is going from memory . Next time i get the error i will copy it down exactly .

Does this seem to make any sense?

207561 2004-01-15 06:15:00 Its a software conflict of some sort.

Are you running the latest directx update?

207562 2004-01-15 06:30:00 yes, im running directX 9.0. So you think it has nothing to do with the hardware at all? Do you think another driver will help? M@TT (149)
