207971 2004-01-17 06:34:00 in ie: tools, internet options, connections, and click "never dial a connection". however when you want to go on the internet you will have to dial manually. Megaman (344)
207972 2004-01-17 09:40:00 what you proberly have is either a spyware problem or you have "launch browser in seperate process" not set. unfortunatly with later vers of IE this setting is no longer accessed by internet optoins, you need to edit the registry. search MS for exact info, sorry i lost the info. tweak'e (174)

or make a local web page which is on your pc, tell ie to use that for your home page (file://c:\myhomepage.html) In tools...internet options... home page.
Then it wont try access the net each time its loaded, I have put links for the common web sites and search engine I use on it

i worked it out myself and let me say i felt a bit silly when i did
i turned off the active desk top!!
now the only things that dial out automatically are my browsers
just what i wanted
