| 207849 | 2004-01-16 02:52:00 | Have noticed spasmodically I seem to get a file which is located in my C:\ directory which is simply " ~ " and about 190K. It seems to appear at random after being on the net. It has no file type associated to it, but it places an icon on the desktop. I have deleted the file and icon when I find it. Am running Win98SE and have ZoneAlarm active, AVG Anti Virus active. File is not picked up through anti-virus, Spybot or Ad-Aware scans Does anyone have any idea what this file is, and why does it keep re-appearing? |

| 207852 | 2004-01-16 04:23:00 | Hi Cptn Hotshot There is a good explanation of the tilde address book phenomenon found here (www.pchell.com). You may want to take note that the ~ file is the backup for your address book and rather than just deleting each time, you may wish to save it for safe keeping. They also offer a work around that may work if it bothers you too much. |
