207828 2004-01-15 23:54:00 Hi, i recently bought a computer off trademe.co.nz and it was formatted. I have installed the mobo or intel chipset drivers and graphics drivers. But i cant find any Audio Drivers. I Downloaded the Intel Chipset Indeification Ultilily. My chipset is intel 810E

in Aida32 my audio controller is

Intel 82801AA ICH

but i cant get any sound to go.

in Device Manager in "Other Devices" there a PCI Multimedia audio device.

I goto properties on that and it says there is no driver loaded for it. It does a search thru windows but it cannot find anything.

Please help

207829 2004-01-16 00:52:00 Try this (download.msi.com.tw) Sigmatel driver.
It is a 876KB download so not too bad!

I have used this on other Intel chipset boards with no problems.

207830 2004-01-16 01:15:00 Uh sorry but still no luck. It says driver is install but device is not present or not working or does not have all the drivers intalled.

I am trying a pMax_Sound.zip one now

207832 2004-01-16 01:39:00 Any idea what the make and model of the board is?

Maybe pull the cover off the PC and see if you can see it printed on the board any where.

207833 2004-01-16 01:40:00 Sorry, forgot to say, the model # is usually written between the PCI slots or next to the RAM sockets. CYaBro (73)
207834 2004-01-16 04:14:00 uh, Is it really obvious and stick out?

The computer is a Compaq Deskpro EP series with a Intel Celeron 500 mhz.

I see a big chip and it says smsc on it, i wonder if that is my audio "driver"

207836 2004-01-16 04:57:00 :'(

i dont know which one to get !!!

I downloaded some driver package and it had the WDM update in it and SOundMAx etc . that was 24 megs .

Atm i am downloading the top one and that is 24 megs or so

I paused that one to download the 2nd one and it is 5 megs .

This is really frustrating .

One driver i had running just kept doing a VxD error . or something a rather .

And then some i think install but then dont work . So oh god i dunno, I'm sure i downloaded the Intel 810e chipset for the motherboard .
