| 207921 | 2004-01-16 23:30:00 | Hmmm.... that's true. We're on "full-speed" Jetstream whatever that is, I think it's faster than 128kb. But it would still take a hell of a lot of time over those 13 days. Wireless isn't that fast, I don't think, at 802.11b... maybe this neighbour needs a ring. | nhut (4140) | ||

That's where you are wrong - 20 gigs over 13 days is plenty of time. I think you don't realise that the data 11mbps limit of 802.11b refers to transfering data between computers across the network. Lo. |

| 207923 | 2004-01-16 23:58:00 | Im pretty sure you could do 20 gigs over 13 days... close to it if not... In 60 minutes, I can download about 55MB 55MB per hour x 24 hours per day = 1320 MB in one day.... x 13 days gives you about 17 gigs (If my math is right...) |

If you're on over 128kbps, then your neighbour or whoever would have had a breezy time going over that 20 gigs! Say you're on 256kbps (JetStream Home) then it'd take you a lot less time to do 20 gigs! Around 8 days if you're non-stop downloading Full-speed JetStream? If you can get 650kb/s (Ive done it) then you can go over 20 gigs in a matter of hours! I had a speed boost at one stage on my JetStream Starter.. did an average of 600KB/s for about 5 hours.. got over 9 gigs! Id take all the advice to heart about securing your network, unplug it until its secure! Chill. |
