| 207962 | 2004-01-19 01:11:00 | What Jim says is correct. The connection is not tied to the user id and pw. I would think that the fixed IP address might be tied to the user id and not the location, as well, but not 100% sure on that one. I've seen people chew through bandwidth when they have a local mail server incorrectly set up and all internal mail goes to the ISP and back again. That doesn't even start to use 20Gb though. I would imagine Xtra would detect if someone was using the account elsewhere at the same time, although they would really only care about that with flat rate users as other users pay for volume anyway. I am not sure that I would pay a $4000 bill for something I never used. I think I would put the burden of proof back on the supplier. That's a lot of money at a ridiculously rude rate. Mind you, I have turned on the warning so I know when I am close to 80% of monthly limit, if that had been used in this case there might not be a bill for $4k. robo. |

When you do relog on telecom will change ur IP number from a pool that they have . So therefore while it looks like u have a static IP u merely have a dynamically assigned Static IP . As someone said above u can grab a true static IP for $20 a month where that IP is reserved for u if ur online or not . Now in terms of logging on with another user name and password . generally and i do not know of an exception you can log on from any Adsl capable line with ur user name and password . However ur ISP will have a fit if u have 2 lines connected at the same time . and this will usually be the case given the statistics of ADSL . As for logging im sure telecom will have a log of everything somewhere, if there prepared to admit and show u they have it thats something different . and for the user that payed telecom $200 to have lines traced . surely you could have jsut asked ur ISP it would have been much easier for them .
