208110 2004-01-17 21:21:00 FWIW, I bought a Dell over the Internet a few weeks ago. For under $2K, I got a 2.6GHz CPU, LCD screen, 512Mb RAM + wireless keyboard and mouse thrown in. No delivery charge. It arrived by courier on the day they said it would. I unpacked it (excellent instructions were included), plugged it in and it worked. Plugged the network into the router and that worked first time as well!! I was very impressed.

Two weeks later another package arrived - a colour jet printer. Part of the deal, but I didn't know it.

So, for my money, I'm sold on Dell.

Not sure about delivery/service to the Chats though.

>I want something i can burn dvd and cds .

Neither of those two computers come with DVD burner just a DVD-ROM, but they both have CD writers (CD-RW) . If you are wanting to burn DVD's it sounds like you will be doing some video editing work on the computer . In which case you will want to have a reasonable graphic card (not onboard) . The ixtreme 6072 would be more suited in that case . Both machines only have 256 MB RAM, and again for video editing work, having at least 512 MB RAM is important .

I see that you are from the Chatam Islands, is there someone who could perhaps custom build you a computer system and then provided local support for it? That way you can get the components required for your needs .

208113 2004-01-17 21:34:00 Welcome to PF1 Eliza,
Well either of those should suit your needs, and as most come with a burner now, that shouldn`t be a problem for you.The thing you`ll have to decide on is which OS, you are going to use.Windows XPhome is good, but for your business needs, XP pro may be better.I have a Packard Bell as you mentioned with XP home , and find it very good and user friendly.
I feel you may have opened a can of worms here, as many members are very passionate about whats best, and this is just my own personal view.

Best of luck

p.s. I fish out of Nelson.

208116 2004-01-17 21:46:00 Were you looking at the New Zealand (www.packardbell.co.nz) Packard Bell website? It is just I cannot find those two models listed on the local product range - I found them on the United Kingdom site which is where I got the specifications from. Jen C (20)
