208637 2004-01-20 05:39:00 I have a compaq deskpro ep with a celeron 500mhz and 64 ram.

I am wondering what type of ram my computer is meant to take?

This is the type of ram i have in atm

Goldstar GMM2649233ETG-7J

I hear some people go on about ECC ram and etc. I know for fact that this ram is pc 100

Thanks

208638 2004-01-20 05:46:00 ECC is error correctiong ram and will cost lots more $$, you dont need it.

PC100 is what will work

PC133 is only 90% likely to work.

208639 2004-01-20 06:06:00 pc 133 will work, provided the bios can automatically reduce the speed, but it will cost more (often) Growly (6)
208640 2004-01-20 07:21:00 compaqs are proprietry machines and often only like 'compaq' parts......of course they're more expensive
dont buy 'generic' ram and expect the machine to work with it......

208641 2004-01-21 11:15:00 will my comp mobo take double sided ram? MrBeef (342)
208642 2004-01-21 12:09:00 Get hold of Aida32 to find out exactly what ram you have and try to match it. I recently bought another 512 PC2100 ( had 256) that should have been compatible but they would not work together. mikebartnz (21)
