209129 2004-01-21 22:40:00 A few months ago I bought a New WD Caviar 80 Gig HDD, and I have installed Windows XP Pro on it and split it into 2 partitions, but recently it has been running scandisk on every start up, even after a proper shutdown.

And also when I try to defrag one of my partitions, an error box pops up and says "Disk Defragmentor has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume D:, Please Run Chkdsk /f"

Any Help would be really appreciated :)

Thank you

It sounds as if Scandisk has been scheduled to run every time the computer starts up, whether the drive needs it or not. Because of this defrag wont do its thing. If you remove the chkdsk from the schedule agent (under system tools in the accessories menu) i think that will solve both your problems.

hope this helps
