| 209151 | 2004-01-21 09:46:00 | hi folks ;-) installed a 56k modem on a machine running windows 95, drivers installed okay, the only thing is it connects at a damn slow speed 40000 bps (not kbs) and cant connect to any web pages. the modem and connections settings appear to be fine, but cant understand why it connects at a slow speed. internet explorer version is 5.5. checked that that tcp/ip protocol is installed as well. anyyyy ideasssss |

| 209152 | 2004-01-21 09:48:00 | You sure the Modempool accepts 56k? Problem with modem is its connecting at best speed possible, so if phonelines are crappy, so will the connection be. |

| 209154 | 2004-01-21 09:56:00 | theres another pc here which is the one im using im right now and on the same line its connecting at 47 Kbs. so its definately not the line. ;-) oh.. just thinking, sorry.. just figured that 40,000 bps is 40 kbs which means it is connecting at a good speed, the only issue now is that it wont connect to any web pages. |

| 209159 | 2004-01-21 10:06:00 | Agree, 40000 is not too bad, webpages should load quite well at that speed Are you sure you have the correct modem selected in your dialup connection. While in properties of your dialup connection (Dialup networking and right click your connection icon and go to properties) check Server Types, make sure the following are unticked - Logon to network NetBeui IPX/SPX In the Network Control Panel make sure you only have one TCP/IP and one Dialup adapter and Client for MS networks. Remove any others. |
