208861 2004-01-20 23:58:00 Hi, Yesterday I wanted to try out the usb streaming capabilities a new camcorder I purchased had, I installed the drivers and applicable software and all was well. It had created a network interface for itself, and set the IP thru the DHCP server on the camera. But.....Now when I try to access files from computers on my network, I can't because they don't show up. I tried running the network setup wizard a few times, to no avail. I could ping the computer's on my network but couldn't access their files...I tried repairing the NIC and received the following message:

==Repair Connection==

The following steps of the repair operation failed:
Purging and reloading the remote cache name table of NetBT.
Sending Name Release packets to WINS and then starting Refresh.
Refreshing all DHCP leases and re-registering DNS names.

Please contact your network administrator or ISP.

[ OK ]

Now this to me didn't look too good, so I un-plugged the usb cable to the camera, uninstalled the drivers, and rebooted my computer. Same issues when I booted up again, ran network setup wizard again, same problem. So I shutdown, installed a differant NIC in a differand PCI slot and tried again. Same problem, same errors when trying to repair. HELP ME! Any help would be much apreciated. I also was thinking it could be a matter of a faulty cable but the cable in question is a two week old Cat6 cable that had been working correctly right up to the installation of the camcorder.

Cheers,

208862 2004-01-21 04:42:00 OK, i just tried a differant cable, and same symptoms - the cable was NOT faulty as it was working perfectly well in the computer I took it out of. This to me tells me it's not a hardware fault, a change of NIC, PCI slot, and cable seemed to think so too. I'm going to see if a re-installation of windows will help - I'm really hoping it will :P . I'll update this thread once I find out :).

208863 2004-01-23 13:09:00 ....A Little While Later....The format and re-install worked, plus it helped me get rid of a whole pile of needless junk :D - I still don't know how the camera affected it in this way...but all is good at present.

err....no! go harvast email addys elsewhere :(

as for your problem, comman cause of net connection faillure is spyware/malware or poor removal of spyware. there are a few winsock/lsp repair tools advailable but make sure your sytem is clean first.
