209082 2004-01-22 01:14:00 I repeat... 'if someone made a good port scanner & password cracker'... lol Craig (448)
209083 2004-01-22 01:29:00 if i spent several years on a piece of software and millions of dollars, i would expect some return.

Whats the point if there isn't? It's one of the biggest reasons inequality is a viable option, people need to gain returns, otherwise their not going to waste their time!

209087 2004-01-22 02:23:00 Thursday must be rant day, is Friday make up day?

First off:

Bruce, read the rules at the top of the page please re "so I hope they find the prick who hacked Valve and I hope they slam him in prison . I make no apologies for that . " Couldn't resist :D

2nd off:

Intellectual property is just that, someone's property .

Copyright and patent law and how it is governed is a slightly different . IMO, copyright and the patent process has been abused in recent years with plenty of examples of patent high-jacking and specious claims of copyright .

The law (internationally) needs to be addressed but, I'm not holding my breath . That doesn't make the concept of intellectual property and the protection of same wrong or somehow bad it just means that there are pri . . . , umm, jerks on both sides of the ledger taking advantage .

Unfortunately, on the computer side of things, we're all going to suffer with the introduction Trusted Computing or whatever the current catch phrase is which, in itself is an abuse of the patent/copyright system .

I have no problem with people protecting themselves from the excesses of the, snooping data gathering, corporations but if you crack and get caught you won't receive any sympathy from this quarter .

End Rant .

209090 2004-01-22 02:52:00 Lighten up youse jokers.

I agree with the intellectual property supporters, sure just like if you grow some spinach and sell it to a cafe, intellectual products are the same.

I also agree with John Grieve about the failure of the free market experiment too.

And if you want to get stuck into someone you can try me coz I'm on the dole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay, let go the mad slavering dogs, listen to the righteous roar of the true peasants!! :^O
