209624 2004-01-24 02:20:00 Over the last 2 weeks I've had trouble starting my PC. I switch the power on at the back and push the start button and sometimes it will fire up and on other occasions it wont. If I turn it off and come back to it about 10 minutes later and do the same thing it starts right away. I've looked at the switch and made sure everything is connected. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing the problem? The motherboard is an Asaus running at 1 Ghz with an AMD CPU. I have 512Mb of SDRAM johut (4183)
209625 2004-01-24 02:24:00 sounds like a faulty power supply skinnerjack (4296)
209626 2004-01-24 02:56:00 Your 512M of RAm is not made up of more than one stick is it?
Why I ask, is that I have recently had a fight with a brand new PC that gives the same symptoms as yours an turned out to be a faulty stick of DDR RAM.
Then you could remove 1 stick and test, then swap over sticks and test again to verify 100% ,verses using a memory test program like memtest86 which is good, but not 100% gauranteed.
