| 209604 | 2004-01-23 22:59:00 | Hi again, i know there are many cases of this problem, and i also know that i've generally read past all solution to this problems whenever i've met it. I'm sure tho, that this is different. I checked other posts, and as far as im concerned, my computer is not resetting itself of faulty Ram. It's brand new, and i've run thorough tests on it with memtest86. The power supply is brand new. I can only suspect a faulty reset switch.... Other than that, is there anything else i could to do stop this problem? It first reset while playing Multiplayer Call of duty, then again when i reloaded, (i wasnt doing anything the second time), then again when i click "new system scan". Now, it just froze., and made beeping noises. Something is seriously wrong. I went into Control panel, and system > advanced> and unclicked "automatically restart" when system fails. Ok, im sitting beside it, and it just froze, beeped, froze, thought for a minute, then reset. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! :'( Ok i just laoded windows, and it beeped, but im scared that it will reset, so no touchy. PLEASE HELP!!!!! |

| 209605 | 2004-01-23 23:26:00 | Ok that was a tad emotional, I'll recap: Comptuer resets automatically. Started during a game. Maybe faulty reset switch. I've set it to not automatically reset in the event of system failure. Hopefully not RAM , or PSU. Both brand new. Checked Ram with memtest86, worked fine. I thought it might be a temperature guage going faulty and resetting as a result. Ideas? |

| 209606 | 2004-01-23 23:30:00 | If its set to not "reset" on failure but it does then i would be looking at the psu. If you think its the reset switch then unplug it from the mobo and give your puter a thrash. |

| 209607 | 2004-01-24 00:04:00 | My (pre-geek) solution, well, thing to start with is give the comp a thorough clean out including the index . dats in DOS, run Ad-Aware and Spybot and the do the maintenance in Safe Mode . I don't <touches head>, touch wood, have any computer problems . :D |

| 209608 | 2004-01-24 01:39:00 | just dealt witha puter which was doing just this............those games you are playin do they require a cd to be in the drive so the system can read it while playin ?...........if so try putting any cd in the drive and copying the contents to a folder...this'll help determine if the cdrom is failing cause the puter I just fixed had exactly this problem...........poor thing would be desperately trying to read the cd but couldn't so would eventually reset LUCK |

| 209609 | 2004-01-24 10:14:00 | Ok, cheers for you replies. Those games either don't need cds, are cracked ( :D ), or i have images. I just wiped the computer, so it should be relatively "Clean", but i ran adware, and spybot, and norton, and nothing bad showed up. I hope it aint the psu. Being brand new, replacement would be annoying. nevertheless, ill try that next. It stopped now, it only did it a few times, so im confused. Im hoping that it wont come back. |
