210200 2004-01-26 21:46:00 Hi.
I used to have WIN ME and used the msconfig command to see what was starting with windows, and then cleaned it out after the kids had downloaded all manner of crap using the info from pete's portal.
I now have win 2k. Does anyone know how i manage the start up applications in this environment.
Also, how do i turn off the ram test at boot up? I have looked all through the bios settings but enabling/disabling doesnt appear to be an option. The PC is an old 500 mhz pentium 3.

Thanks.

210201 2004-01-26 21:59:00 ptopz,

See the following for information on using msconfig or another utility for Win2k W2k_msconfig_info (www.techadvice.com)

Although it mentions Win98 you could use the WinME one also.

Cheers, Babe.

There should be a setting in your BIOS as I recall, about "fast boot" to be enabled. It still counts the RAM, but really fast and not the full check.

Oh and the MSconfig.exe from a copy of XP works well too.
