| 209969 | 2004-01-26 01:00:00 | It has to be done from outside of Windows, as these files are in use in Windows and it won't let you. Restart in DOS and use the del command to delete index.dat completely, Windows will rebuild them at next boot up. I think there is a FAQ about this if the FAQs are working, yes, FAQ#9b is the one. |

It will search your PC for the index.dats and then generate a .bat file and place a registry key so that the files will be autodeleted on boot. Works very well.
