2004-01-26 03:21:00 Okays, I might have to take it to a shop because I can only unscrew one side of the HDD. The other side is sorta covered with a metal plate. *doh* Thanks for your help anyways. Very much appreciated. Raewyn (946)
2004-01-26 03:28:00 If you're located anywhere near East Auckland I could probably help - my rates are about half or less of most shops, and no fix no pay Greg S (201)
2004-01-26 03:35:00 I am in Takanini, South Auckland. If it is the motherboard and not the HDD, is there anyway we can backup my files onto CD? Raewyn (946)
2004-01-26 03:40:00 Yup, by aforesaid method, of putting the HDD into another puter that has a CD writer Greg S (201)
2004-01-26 04:24:00 Okays, I managed to get my HDD out and have it plugged into my sisters computer. I changed the BIOS to AUTO on all the other drives and then restarted the puter. Everything started okay, no errors. But when I went to Windows Explorer, I couldn't see my HDD anywhere. Are there any other options I should be changing to see my HDD in Windows Explorer? Or does that mean my HDD is actually stuffed? :-( Raewyn (946)
2004-01-26 05:10:00 Yep, I think my HDD has definitely died. I took the HDD out of my sisters computer and put mine in. When I rebooted it came up as Primary Disk Error, so I changed all the other drives to "none" and rebooted and it started okay (no errors). But then when it started loading windows, the "safe mode" options came up and everytime I try to go into one of those options, the computer automatically restarts again and keeps doing that everytime I choose a safe mode option. So I'm guessing the HDD has died. :-( Raewyn (946)
