| 210167 | 2004-01-26 20:40:00 | or opera (http://opera.com) where you can just tick a box saying "refuse pop up windows". And keep IE for the things that haven't been coded for alternative browsers. |

| 210168 | 2004-01-26 20:44:00 | Could try Spybot as well. Also turn off Windows messenger service under control panel-admin tools-services. This is Windows messenger NOT MS messenger. It is used usually by network admins to send messages to users. Did the google bar work? If so, why the question? |

The popups you are getting are not related to Internet Explorer, they are from the Windows Messenger Service and can be disabled. Go to Control Panel, Admin Tools and click on Services. Scroll down until you see Messenger and right click on it and select properties. Then select stop and startup type = disabled. Click OK. More information is available here (www.microsoft.com) and here. (www.itc.virginia.edu) |

| 210173 | 2004-01-27 00:05:00 | Does the thing happen if you unplug your Jetstream modem/router? If so, then it's spyware on your computer. Some spyware is not picked up easily by Adaware/Spybot, so it would probably take a bit of time and looking through Google, to find how to "manually" remove it. | somebody (208) | ||
