209999 2004-01-26 03:13:00 Hi peeps! came across a download called CD Scratch, great fun, does to a pair of cd's what a vinyl dj would do to 2 discs. Anyone know of any other downloads like a dj mixing desk, beat matching, pitch controls, automix etc?

Cheers

210000 2004-01-26 03:43:00 Sonic Foundry ACID Xpress is free (with some limitations), and can handle pitch controls, exporting a limited number of times, mixing tracks, matching BPMs.

It's very nice (I think Sony bought Sonic Foundry though, so you might have to look around for a download), and I've used it a lot.

Just a note, the best beat matching you'll ever be able to do is manually counting the number of beats in a minute and constructing a table for every song - by all means, beat matching is useful, but it won't always be accurate. That said, you will probably find some songs that require a lot of work to find out the exact BPM after you have manually counted it (personal experience there; I spent a few hours once trying to find the BPM of a song).

There was also another program which would do mixing, but it would speed the song up torwards the end to mix it in with the next, as opposed to changing the speed of the entire song.

AnalogX (http://www.analogx.com) has some useful tools, including a BPM counter (hit the spacebar on each beat - I personally thought that I was giving my spacebar some hard bashings and gave up on that program) and ScratchIt, which will perform a similar task as CD Scratch, except using audio files.

210002 2004-01-26 05:32:00 Thanks for the replies, am looking for a download whereby to mix my own cd's rather than make my own music type of thing, & wanted to see what else was out there before I buy in to a better version of what I've seen !

Cheers again!
