as i want to get one as some neighbours borrow my phone and i've noticed they are ringing toll calls...theres only been 3 under $3 calls and they pay for it but i dont want to keep letting them do it...and if theres a toll bar then they cant do it...

210620 2004-01-28 02:47:00 ask telecome when you ring up to get the tollbar but you should be good to connect to the internet. robsonde (120)
210621 2004-01-28 03:08:00 Telecom toll bar does not stop ISP numbers that they know about. In my case paradise, but as far as I know, all 0867 are OK. It is very easy to turn on or off from your own phone, if you want to make a toll call - also blocks cellular - very handy. Telecom will explain and tell you what is not blocked. Does cost though.

210622 2004-01-28 03:10:00 if you are calling a national isp number eg 0867wopbopaloobop then you should be fine.

I've had no problems since having a tollbar put in place (though I did so under slightly more extreme conditions than you - read: psycho ex flatmate calling her boyfriend on his cellphone = $420 of toll calls in one month)

210624 2004-01-28 03:29:00 Blocking is usually done (or used to be) on masking of the first 2 digits.

If thats still the case, 01 and 08 will be unblocked, giving access to freecalls (0800) and ISP's (08xx) as well as service numbers (018). There is no "calling area" STD code of 01 or 08 so its quite clean.

But, as mentioned, its a "charged for" service.

210626 2004-01-28 05:46:00 "very easy to turn on or off"? I hope it's not too easy ... Graham L (2)
210627 2004-01-28 06:11:00 Would it not be easier just to say no to the neighbours?
That`s how I would solve the problem .

210628 2004-01-28 06:56:00 Turning on or off reguires a Pin number. So easy but without the number, not possible. Same as your Bank Card. You pick the number.
