210760 2004-01-28 20:37:00 The funniest story I can remember is one day a guy came in to buy a sound card. It was a few years ago and I think from memory it was an ISA card that I sold him. I then asked if he would like use to install it for him but he said no way, I know what I'm doing!

The next day he came storming back in to the store with PC under his arm and was highly P O'd that I sold him a faulty sound card. He said he had tried everything to make it go. So I took the PC into the workshop and opened it up to change the card because I thought he knew what he was doing so it must be a faulty card. And there it was - The card had been installed into the PC BUT because his mainboard had a couple of ISA slots then a gap where there could have been another ISA or PCI slot and then 3 PCI slots, the sound card was flotting above the mainboard in this gap and screwed into the backing plate as you normally would! I took it out and showed him and he still couldn't understand why it was working!!??

210761 2004-01-28 21:35:00 I had a woman ring up and ask for ram to be added to her computer,i grabbed a couple sticks and shot around,i showed her the ram and explained what it was and where it we't.She was nodding her head and seemed to understand....untill i pulled out my screwdriver and started to remove the side of the case....all hell broke lose, the ...uh....client was adament that no way in hell was it permisible for me or anyone else for that matter to open up the case and the only people who could were were the manufacters of the pc.(system was about a 6 year old dell)

I was quite surprised to say the least, she was very upset,i ended up getting a motherboard out of my wagon and showing her how the ram slotted in.

Still not believeing me she rang her son and he told her to stop being silly and to let me do the upgrade(it was him who told her to get the ram in the first place)

She did after that let me go ahead but was still convinced a memory upgrade consisted of putting a cd in the drive and letting nature take its course.

Another incident,i replaced a blown psu a few months back, then about three weeks after doing so recieved what only can be called an abusive msg on my answer machine,Seems on that particuler day the client couldn't access their online banking, and seeing as i had replaced the psu then i had also somehow broken the internet, and due to my "breaking" the internet the kids were gonna starve, the rent would't be paid and the power would be cut off.

The fact that it was only 1 site that wouldn't work, that it had worked everyother time since i had replaced the psu and the fact that the psu is complety unrelated to the internet didnt hold any water as far as they were concerned.

So,being the nice guy i am(..............HA) i called in,went to the page concerned and what do ya know,it worked perfectly as i expected it would.
