| 1355387 | 2013-10-07 23:59:00 | Ok finally got a harddrive for the elderly laptop, couldn't find the xp disk BUT found an old XP Pro evaluation disk, so i am installing that at present, IF I use my oem number (off the bottom of the lappie) with it, will it stop it expiring after the 180 days and function like a normal xp install? Thanks |

The Windows XP upgrade-only versions look for qualifying products to upgrade. The beta or evaluation versions are not considered qualifying products. So, I would say no |

Thanks Depends -- The OEM will have to be XP Pro as well. A XP home wont get accepted by a Pro Install. Some of the evaluation software also comes pre-pidded, which means the product key will be hard coded in the area where you are supposed to enter the product key for the length of the trial and cant be changed. |
