2013-10-04 22:02:00 | explorer.exe is taking forever to open whenever I want to search for or find a file. The time wheel (hour glass?) keeps on spinning forever. Frequently I get a message saying Windows Explorer has stopped and will restart. What is causing this grief? How do I repair it?

2013-10-05 01:03:00 | My Computer can crash if there's something in the context menu that may not be compatible. Or it maybe malware. Does it do the same thing in safe mode / safe mode / networking? | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2013-10-05 02:04:00 | I haven't tried starting/running my PC in safe mode :( | Zippity (58) | |
2013-10-05 02:13:00 | Try it then we'll see if its something in startup or running thats causing it. If it opens without crashing | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2013-10-05 03:11:00 | That was an interesting exercise :) Restarts in Safe Mode and Safe Mode with Networking resulted with no issues. Restart in normal mode and Windows Explorer hangs :( I have downloaded and installed ShellExView - and have disabled Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, NVIDIA User Experience Driver Component and NVIDIA Dis[play Shell Extension. What others should I disable?

2013-10-05 03:40:00 | Whats in startup? If ccleaner is installed, go to tools / startup / context menu. Disable everything here. See if it crashes. If it doesnt tick each entry again till it does. Then we'll know whats crashing it Did anyone install any separate codecs?? Some codecs, can crash windows explorer

2013-10-05 04:08:00 | I don't have ccleaner installed, but I do have SpeedyPC Pro and after I disabled all items in startup, eveything is back to working normally. Silly question. Do I need all these files/items in startup? Will their removal affect how my PC performs?

2013-10-05 04:15:00 | I would get rid of speedypc pro for a start. Post a HJT log, or install cleaner remember to do a custom install if you do. Then run it. Then go to startup. Click on save to txt file. Copy and paste what it saves in here. So we can see whats in startup | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2013-10-05 07:14:00 | OK. I have downloaded, paid for, and installed CCleaner Professional Edition v4.06.4324 and have deleted SpeedyPCPro :) How do I accomplish the rest?

2013-10-05 07:25:00 | Run ccleaner then go to tools/startup. Bottom right click on it save whats in startup as a txt file. Copy and paste the startup stuff in here. Or install/run teamviewer. Give me the ID and pw it gives you in a PM. And I'll do it | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
