1354664 2013-09-30 05:24:00 Hi all

Can anyone tell me how to stop junk email getting through ? I've done the blocked sender bit and it's showing up on the list.
One of the addresses seems to be from the same sender, but tried everything to stop it ... more of a pain in the a$$ than anything, but would like to fix it before setting up Outlook on a new drive with clean install of Win 7

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

1354665 2013-09-30 05:26:00 Mailwasher -- it looks at your mail before it downloads, so you can select what to let through and what to stop.

Theres two versions, http://www.mailwasher.net/ Scroll down and it shows the difference in a chart.
Been using it for as many years as I can remember. Was at a persons place today, they had 341 Mails coming through, stopped them, installed mailwasher free, out of the ones available she only let through around 6-7 - the rest were deleted.

1354666 2013-09-30 05:27:00 Make a rule add its email tell it to delete it from server Speedy Gonzales (78)
1354667 2013-09-30 06:24:00 Set up a rule to delete all mail with "THIS IS JUNK" in the subject header ... and then get all the spammers in the world to put that in the subject of every mail they send :) fred_fish (15241)

:+1:

I've had it since the program launched and I wouldn't be without it .

Absolutely nothing gets through if you haven't pre-approved it, and you can read any mail item direct off the host server if you think it might be one you want, but you don't recognise the sender .

It is dead simple to use and I wouldn't be without it!

1354669 2013-09-30 07:35:00 Thanks guys ... going to give mailwasher a go first. Downloaded it and seems to be very user friendly. Thanks WT SP8's (9836)
1354670 2013-09-30 07:52:00 Dunno what all you guys do to get spam, I can't remember the last time I had any and I have nothing in place except a couple of rules on Gmail.

One to remove any mail with Viagra in the title and one for the word Penis. They seem to cover everything and they are set to just delete forever.

Does Mailwasher still change your Outlook settings? It used to and was a real pain when I had a POP issue

A guy in the first shaky city designed it (ChCH) Nick Bolton ( I think That's his name).

Just a couple of suggestions.

The mails I don't want I tick, I don't bother with the thumbs as shown in the site picture.
Make sure once you have ticked the ones you don't want you click Wash Mail ( youd be surprised how many people don't do that and open the mail program instead)
Once washed you can tell mailwasher to automatically open your mail program- See settings below ( by default its not ticked)

Evidently, they seem to have got a lot better at identifying their target market.

1354673 2013-09-30 19:18:00 Your ISP/mail provider doesn't do spam filtering? Between this & Outlook's junk filter, I can't recall having had any actual spam get through for years. inphinity (7274)
