1332776 2013-03-15 00:26:00 Sounds silly, but,....

How do I replace the air filter of my Nissan Wingroad, 2006 model, Jap import.

Have googled but couldn't get any results.

Suppose to be a straight-forward replacement but problem is, I couldn't even locate where the filter is!

Would be nice if someone could point me to the right direction where step-by-step DIY instructions on the Internet.f

Cheers

Took out the filter and checked - it's quite clean actually.

The reason why I do it is because I sent in my car for lub service at the AA Auto Service this morning and they 'advised' me that my filter needs replacement - it's very dirty.

It turns out that they are just trying to cheat some money from me! Another one of those dishonest garages!

Have to look for another car repairer!

1332779 2013-03-15 02:19:00 Clean is relative if driven on asphalt roads its just paper and the fine dirt blocks the pores of the paper. The AA may have plugged in an OBDI and found a pressure drop across the element. Dont be a tight bugger change it. Dont blow it out with an airgun as this forces the dirt into the paper esp if blown from the outside in. Service every 20k by tapping it on concrete change every 60k if not driven on gravel roads or long drive ways. prefect (6291)

Did you see that on a Tui sign?

Unlikely

Why is that? An OBD2 fitted to my 1999 Ka shows the vaccuum reading up stream and down stream a dirty airfilter will give a reading outside normal limits

That's logical and something I didn't know. Thanks

I spose your cleaning your o2 sensor at the same time? I do my filter quite regularly now, living in east christchurch is not nice to air filters. Hate to think how many vehicles are being choked cos the owners don't know to replace.

What is this 1999 Ka? I've checked a wide range of normal cars and all just have a mass airflow sensor between the filter and the intake manifold and no sensor on the other side of the filter.

I would say that filters get checked by eye unless there's some performance issue. On sealed roads mine has done 80k + without much dirt and I know it's the original because I marked it when new. I've had charges for parts the mechanic never replaced in the past :)
