1332786 2013-03-15 21:55:00 Of my 20+ years living in NZ, came across too many dishonest mechanics around.

They are charging >$80 /hr for labour! No wonder there are so many oil leak stains on lots of parking lots; too expensive to fix it - cheaper just to top up the oil. :D

Lots people just can't afford to fix their cars professionally (not too many professional mechanics around, too) :D

1332787 2013-03-16 02:42:00 What is this 1999 Ka? I've checked a wide range of normal cars and all just have a mass airflow sensor between the filter and the intake manifold and no sensor on the other side of the filter.

I would say that filters get checked by eye unless there's some performance issue. On sealed roads mine has done 80k + without much dirt and I know it's the original because I marked it when new. I've had charges for parts the mechanic never replaced in the past :)
Well I get a an upstream and downstream vaccum reading on the computer and the airfilter box has a sensor in it.

1332789 2013-03-16 03:12:00 The computer service is still a 'cleaner' one among the service industries; and reasonably priced, too. :) bk T (215)
