I see them ok for casual reads like novels and current affairs but things like textbooks, travel guides doesn't work for me when I can write on it, while some let you write on them or color tab them it is not the same as the old way or as fast. |

| 1333010 | 2013-03-19 02:32:00 | Paper books are not only fiendishly expensive, they're diabolical things to fetch home. :devil Some of these paper things don't even have the ability to highlight a word or phrase and look it up! Now how could they have omitted that? Paper books, particularly textbooks, even get notes written on them by beings who consider themselves better qualified than the author in these matters. If leather binding is what tickles your fancy, these paper books need a seperate custom binding for every single book - how silly is that? In the event of a house fire, paper is a bit susceptible to: fire, water from the fireman, painters who outdo every preceding calamity for domestic havoc, and then, good luck with the insurance company claiming for restoration. Not only that, the bookseller usually refuses to restore your book free if it's lost! With all this, I can't see paper based books ever catching on in the market. ;) |

A matter of personal preference I think, I prefer my kindle to my paper books. Nicer how? I suppose if you like the feel or the smell of paper maybe, but in terms of reading or holding no better for me at least. And anyone who works in an office can tell you just how far from dead paper is, we buy A4 and A3 by the box loads. Funny add though. |
