211643 2004-01-31 00:01:00 Installed Zonealarm on a WinXp Home machine and now shutdowns take over 10 minutes.
Any solutions?
Thanks.

211644 2004-01-31 00:45:00 Have you disabled the XP firewall. The latest sevice pack will reenable it. mikebartnz (21)

211648 2005-01-19 01:33:00 I also have the same problem. To prove its Zone Alarm shut it dwn before you restart or shutdown. Mine is very fast. Let Zone Alarm running and restart or shutdown and it takes minutes.

Looking for the solution and one or the reasons I'm holding back on buying with the virus detection added version.

211649 2005-01-19 02:16:00 For info Zone Alarm free v5.1 and higher is compatible with XP SP2.
Suggest first step would be to update to v5.1
Running Zone Alarm Pro v 5.5 and XP Home with SP2, ZA starts during bootup, have no shutdown problems.

Your version is too old and out of date and probably not very compatable with XP SP2 I would suggest you get the latest version and install that. I have put zone alarm on several XP comps and they work fine although the older versions of ZA did cause long shutdowns or even errors.

211651 2005-01-19 02:33:00 When peejayw posted that SP2 wasent even out yet.

IMO dump zonealarm and get a good firewall. Just look through all the past posts about firewalls and pick the one with the least amount of problems.

My pick would be Sygate or Kero
