| 211211 | 2004-01-30 04:27:00 | In the last couple of years I installed or somehow created a shutdown icon on mydesktop that instantly shuts down the computer without going through the Start menu. I got this from a PC World mag but for the life of me I can't remember how I did it. I have another computer that I wish to put it on that is running Windows 98SE. No I don't have trouble with fast shut down so that is not an issue. Hope someone can help Panda |

| 211213 | 2004-01-30 04:55:00 | Well of course they would laugh. Someone clicking on an icon marked "shutdown" to shutdown. Everyone knows that you click on "Start" to stop a computer. :D | Graham L (2) | ||
| 211214 | 2004-01-30 05:28:00 | Type this: C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL32.EXE shell32.dll,SHExitWindowsEx 2 into Notepad and save as shutdown.bat. The number (in this case "2") signifies whether to reboot or not. I think a 1 is to shutdown 2 is to reboot. |

| 211215 | 2004-01-30 05:46:00 | Why not just make it a shortcut, so you can also specify a custom icon if preferred? There are more numbers than just 1 and 2, there are ones for logoff, maybe hibernate, standby, etc. Try through a range of numbers (starting at 0) and see what happens. |
