211195 2004-01-30 02:54:00 I recently updated my IE5.5 to IE6 sp1 from your monthly CD and have had a problem with opening links and email. This is covered by Q281679 in Microsoft Knowledge Base Articles.
I have followed their recomendations but I still have this problem which they say is caused by installing a customised version of IE.
I have reinstalled the IE but the problem is still there. Can you help, pleeease? I am at my wits end.
It took me over 40 minutes to create a new login and type this message.
Thanks for your help.

211198 2004-01-30 03:55:00 John, the version of IE distributed with the PCW CD is "customised" only to the extent that all versions of IE distributed on CD, rather than via MS's website are customised versions that the distributor creates from an MS tool. Our is plain vanilla though, using just the default options - we haven't done any customisation oif the actual program at all.

Until you get the problem solved can I suggest you install one of the other browsers on the CD to check if you can browse okay with those -- Mozilla would be a good choice.

211202 2004-02-03 23:42:00 I gave up on IE5 and 6 and went to Opera a year ago. Hardly ever use IE now paulw (1826)
211203 2004-02-03 23:49:00 sounds like you may have to remove IE and reinstall. you will need this (www.litepc.com) to uninstall IE however check what service pack you have installed before useing.

try repairing IE first tho in case you havn't done so.

211204 2004-02-04 00:11:00 Are you sure you did the following from Q281679
This usually fixes the problem

1. Quit all programs that are running.

2. Click Start, and then click Run.

3. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.

4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.
If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file names below):

Shdocvw.dll

Msjava.dll

Actxprxy.dll

Oleaut32.dll

Mshtml.dll

Browseui.dll

Shell32.dll (Windows XP and Windows 2000 only)
