211750 2004-02-03 05:00:00 Well, we got the email this morning i suppose when i was at school and then mum took the computer in and they put a new one in. All for 92 bucks including labour!

Also they replaced CPU fan which needed lubing but woulda just stuffed up, so thats pretty good to, although it does spin slower now..(the cpu goes at 3300rpm rather than 4400 rpm

211751 2004-02-03 19:43:00 Hey MrBeef, it was me I did it! :)

I replaced the CPU fan cause the old one was so clogged up with dust even after I cleaned and lubed it it was still making a horrible noise and not spinning as fast as it should have been.

The new one is a Glacialtech Igloo 2450 and they do have a slower fan RPM but it is a big sucker and can take up to AMD XP3200+. A bit of overkill for your Duron 900 but they are a good fan.
Check it out here (www.glacialtech.com) if you want to.

Going back to the dust problem, I can tell you that if you had been allowed to clean the PC with compressed air then you wouldn't have had this problem. Maybe now your parents will let you clean it every couple of months.

211752 2004-02-04 03:13:00 Just a query CYaBro, was it a 2 way fan on the psu, as in one suck and one blow...either that or you got some info sheet on the PSU?

But Cheers anyway, you guys are all good :)

211753 2004-02-04 03:54:00 No, it was just a standard, single fan, 300W PSU. I'll have to check and see if I've got any info on it. CYaBro (73)
