211604 2004-02-07 19:30:00 Whoops! Sorry, I didn't mean to post it three times.
Funny, the first one (which is a slightly larger file) loaded almost instantaneously, when I did the follow up it just blatted out after a long wait.

211607 2004-02-07 20:48:00 It's about time I posted my boring desktops!

1: Arch Linux (sal.neoburn.net)
2: Windows XP (sal.neoburn.net)

I did say they would both be incredibly boring... :D

211608 2004-02-07 20:56:00 jrc1, which part of the country do you live in, it looks lovely, however tho on you desktop its all squished. On the desktop can i assume thats its all just one big "gully"

Our farm..? Beautiful? nothing spectacular, except that we own the highest viewing point in Mangapai, on a good day we can see the East Coast and West Coast :)

Its excellent, now all we need is a high quality camera to take pictures :P

211609 2004-02-07 21:16:00 Thanks Mike. since those pics were taken things have been tidied up a bit :).
May as well show the other 2 walls, note the cooling fan added into the computer case side in this shot (sal.neoburn.net), this works really well, and the last wall here (sal.neoburn.net).

Yes to the first, no to the second. These are the components:
Background: alien night
Colours: KDE1
Icons: Crystal SVG Beta1 Icon Theme
Window decorators: IceWM Infadel #2
Widget style: Keramic

Now I am sure you were absolutely gagging to get that level of detail ;-) But it isn't Bluecurve! :-)

Here is another screenshot with a window open to show more detail.
sal.neoburn.net

It is running on a Fujitsu P series Lifebook that has a 10.6 inch screen. I haven't seen Fedora on a "normal" display.

GNOME 2.5.3 running Evolution 1.5.2. You'll also notice that I'm SFTP'd into my gateway through Nautilus.

211612 2004-02-07 23:41:00 Hi MrBeef, thanks for the positive comments. I live 9 miles east of Stratford in Taranaki. If you check out the posting I made after the one featuring my desktop you'll see a more realistic view of our landscape, its definitely not one big gully.
If I was to post the whole panoramic view (trouble is its over 800kb) you'd see a view that encompassed part of the inland hill country (sheep, beef & forestry) to the front rolling country and ring plain (dairying).
Don't worry about the quality of camera too much, my shots were taken with a 2mp Kodak; I'd like a better one, but this one'll do for now and anyway I'm on a learning curve.
It actually sounds like you would get some stunning views from your high viewing point. Imagine a panorama going right round from east coast to west.
