211912 2004-01-31 22:43:00 Hello all. We have just replaced the Motherboard, long story. All the data on our drive was loaded onto another drive & after an XP re-install, all this data was transferred back. WAs assured that ALL the data would have gone back but things would be a little different in layout. However I cannot find the old OE Local Folders that we transferred our emails to. Tried Search & no luck. Any ideas??? TIA PJ Poppa John (284)
211913 2004-01-31 22:57:00 Do a search on your hard drive for *.dbx files. In the Search box you will need to click on the More Advanced Options and put ticks in "Search system folders", "Search hidden files and folders". and "Search subfolders". In Windows Explorer you will also need to go to Tools, Folder Options, View and put a tick in "Show hidden files and folders". tommy (2826)
211914 2004-02-01 04:02:00 tommy, Did what you suggested but no go. Had to get a dbx program from Google, to no avail. We have "found" other things but not our old OE Emails lied from 2003. Any other ideas?? PJ Poppa John (284)
211915 2004-02-01 07:04:00 I am not certain what you mean by you "had to get a dbx program". The .dbx files contain your emails, ie Inbox.dbx contain all the emails that were within your OE Inbox folder, Saved.dbx contain emails within a Saved folder, etc. If you are not able to find any Inbox.dbx files on your hard drive it may be that you do not have "Show hidden folders and files" enabled. tommy (2826)
211916 2004-02-02 06:27:00 tommy. Have deleted the MailNavigator dbx programme I downloaded.
"Show hidden folders"etc IS enabled. Cannot npw open any of the dbx files we are starting to amass.
Have had the "Tin Box" back to the Comp Shop for checking & he cannot find OE stuff either on this HD or the one he copied all our data to. WE have WAP transferred an EM address book from the network computer & apart from a few missing ones allis Ok. BUT we would love to get back all of our 2003 e-mail letters etc. PJ

211917 2004-02-02 06:35:00 Try this PJ>
Right-Click on the Start Menu and choose Explore
Click C:\
Open Douments and Settings
Open Your_Old_Username
Open Local Settings
Copy the folder called Outlook Express to C:\

Now, open up Outlook Express and Click File
Import
Emails
Choose From OE Store Directory
Select c:\Outlook Express
It will import all the emails and when it has done so, you can remove the c:\Outlokok Express folder :-)

Hope this helps
