211856 2004-01-31 08:43:00 I have a SnapGear Lite + (n1110) Hardware firewall. I can play online games, but I can not host any, which is really annoying.

I know opening ports makes you vunerable, but I just want to open it for a game, then close it later.

I dont even know if opening ports is the right thing. I heard it was just getting the game to go to your IP address or something, as your firewall hides it (or something). As you can see, I wouldnt have a clue, so please help.

It has a config software installed, which is an internet explorer link, so maybe its using IE to set it up, but it doesnt work anyway, just comes up with "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\SnapGear\<title><\title><\head><body bgcolor="

For some stupid reason.

211857 2004-01-31 09:13:00 You do need to open a port if you want to host a game. Most modern games today will tell you what port it needs to use, this varies depending on the game. You can open the port while you play and you should be safe and then you can close it once more when the game is over. Odin (227)
211858 2004-02-01 02:42:00 Ok, well, the games I am playing are Worms Armageddon, and Dungeon Siege. I cant seem to find anything in the options about firewalls, or ports or anything like that. mejobloggs (264)

211860 2004-02-01 04:12:00 Doesnt seem to help me. Not that I understood much of it.

I read somewhere that you can only play DS behind firewall if you are on the first computer or main computer on a network. I am using the second, so could that be the problem?

ICS is Internet Connection Sharing.

211863 2004-02-01 07:34:00 I read a lot about enabling UPnP on your firewall/router. How to do this?

Also, I have a router, and a firewall.

router is zyxell prestige 642r. But i guess it is the firewall stopping me hosting online, not the router?
